Swamp Cooler Observations

Although we have been using the Ruffwear Swamp Cooler for a couple of years, we have never really put it to the test, I mean we use, it works brilliantly and that's that, we have never really needed to take a note of the facts. But we thought we would make a note of our observations and put them in this blog for others to see. It's not very scientific but at least it does give people an idea of what to expect. One of the questions we are always asked is 'how long does it stay wet'? So we have done some testing to see if we can help answer that question. Obviously it depends on a few factors...

Swamp Cooler, life saver?

There is some coincidence in this story. I had planned to write a blog today about the Ruffwear Swamp Cooler and to post some lovely photos of Luca wearing his, we took them yesterday and one of them was used to make our latest slider on the homepage. Luca is currently doing some testing and we were going to make a video and sing the praises of the Swamp Cooler as we really like them. Last night changed all that! This isn't a fabrication and it has shaken us up a little. Last night I was woken up at 02:10am by a noise, this is unusual in it's self as the bedroom has thick walls and a heavy door, normally...

Neoprene Dog Vests

In our last blog we talked about the problems that grass seeds and foxtails can cause and the potential injuries that can occur from them. This time we are going to talk about chest injuries to dogs. We have seen some posts/articles on the internet about dogs that have suffered from chest injuries, mainly from sticks but there are other causes too, barbed wire, even bramble. Injuries are not just limited to the chest, but they are the most frequent. It is something that concerns us with our own dogs. So you might ask what dog is likely to suffer a chest injury? Well obviously working dogs, especially Gundogs are probably most prone, but the reality is that any active...

Grass Seeds & Foxtails

Grass seeds and foxtails are the bane of our dog walks! That might seem a little excessive, but trust me it isn't, and we know lots of others who think the same. Let me explain. Because we spend a lot of time off the beaten track, in woodland, in the 'campo' and generally where there is lots of vegetation and not a lot of anything else, we encounter grass, in all its forms, all year round, but this time of year is the worst. The grass has died and the seeds and foxtails have dropped onto the ground, and they are everywhere, billions of them! For those that don't know what I mean, this is them. The sharp pointed ones...

Paracord Dog Collar

We just thought we would give an update on the Paracord Dog Collars as they have really taken off since our initial blog on them. I think I stated 'Is this a new venture....probably knot', well we certainly have been busy making them so maybe I was wrong. I think it is because they are fairly unique, well certainly unusual, that makes them appealing. I think most dog owners want their dogs to look good and to have good looking, smart collars, so I think our paracord dog collars have struck a cord with people.   We were also approached by a forward thinking British retail company about them marketing our Paracord Dog Collars, Unique-Unique were very keen on our collars...
